1. Spirit Releasement / Spirit Depossession Therapy (SRT) and Past Life Therapy (PLT) are very closely linked in clinical practice. The same techniques used to uncover past life trauma can also reveal attached entities of various types. However, the aim of SRT is to release the intruders to the Light which is the next step in their spiritual evolution. Both PLT and SRT are used in many private sessions.
   
   The practitioner uses well-established and proven techniques: a variation of hypnotic induction, probing with discovery questions, identifying the type(s) of attached entities, effecting the release and separation of the entities from the host, firmly guiding the entities to the Light, healing the vulnerabilities which allowed the attachment, and ongoing therapy. The work is done in a clinical setting with the client in an altered state of consciousness. There is no physical touching as in some other healing modalities.
   
   A practitioner must have a good background in hypnotherapy, past life therapy, and must be spiritually grounded. A good knowledge of metaphysics and spirituality is essential. Above all, the practitioner must have an open and loving heart. The context of Spirit Releasement Therapy is absolute, unconditional and non-judgmental love. It is truly a spiritual psychology.
   
2. The client attains an altered state of consciousness by focusing on the presenting problem, the emotions involved, the physical sensations produced while describing the feelings associated with the problem. Some people have visual images, some spontaneously know the answers to the therapist's questions. The sensitive facilitator will be guided by the client's narrative and experience, and will guide the client to the resolution of the past life issues and release of the intrusive, attaching entities.
   
   
3. The goal is personal empowerment, spiritual freedom, and relief of symptoms of the presenting problems. Spirit Releasement Therapy leads to these results for the client and for the released entities.
   
   
4. We direct the client to locate, recall, and uncover the source of the presenting problem or symptom, no matter what it is, where it is, when it is, who it is, or how it began. It can be a present life trauma (which is nearly always a repeat of a past life event), past life incident, or an entity of some kind, and there will be a first, initiating, precipitating event which set the forces in motion leading to the predicament. The techniques of PLT and SRT can be used for any problem or conflict in the human condition.
   
   
5. Spirit possession is as old as history. The Church has used a violent, compassionless form of exorcism for centuries. A clinical approach to the problem of discarnate interference was first used in the late 19th century. Dr. Carl Wickland, a psychiatrist and a spiritualist released attached entities through the mediumship of his wife, Anna. Their approach was effective, though spiritually naive and limited within the beliefs of Spiritualism. In the late '70s, Dr. Edith Fiore expanded on her work in PLT when she discovered the condition of entity possession in her clients and began to successfully apply Wickland's depossession techniques. Her work is described in her 1987 book, The Unquiet Dead. Dr. William Baldwin began studying the subject in 1980, and further developed the techniques of this work. His book, Spirit Releasement Therapy: A Technique Manual, was first published in 1991.
   
6. Understanding this topic involves metaphysics, knowledge of other spiritual realms, shamanic techniques, namely: soul retrieval, the characteristics and behavior of the dark force entities, ETs and UFO abductions, archetypal energies and the collective unconscious, and much, much more.
